lights indicate that the MIDI signal is being recognized when i press a key. M-audio is plugged into one usb port, and my korg nano-key is plugged into another. In Cantabile Performer, I have selected M-audio USB as my default audio driver.

I also should mention that my gripes might be unique to my model of Scarlett box, and might not be relevant for other models. I have the driver installed Fast track is in the system tray and indicates 'streaming at 44.1khz'. The second one is kind of frustrating, but I still really love the thing and I've had no problems as far as connectivity, which was incredibly frustrating before. The other more significant problem is that it doesn't have a mix knob to control the ratio between input/recording volume and DAW volume, so if you want to hear what you're playing over the DAW audio, you have to lower the master volume of the DAW and then compensate with a volume increase on the box. Not a huge problem and I've only had to change it once. The only gripes I have are that the line inputs do not have individual gain control on the box itself via a knob, you have to open the software control center and adjust it there. I got one of Focusrite Scarlet interfaces and it works MUCH better.

I used to have an M-box, and I liked it, but I would always have issues with my computer recognizing it, or programs taking exclusive control over the output, to the point where reinstalling drivers became a (relatively) normal occurrence. Is it time for me to upgrade my hardware? What would you all recommend? I must admit I'm not familiar with a lot of the hardware side of audio, as I've simply let myself become comfortable with this Fast Track device and focused on different DAW's and other software. Even when it shows up, I get only silence from it. Interestingly, I can still record on my condenser mic hooked up to my old Fast Track, but using the audio output on it (i.e., headphones) seems to be impossible, as nothing I do will make my system recognize it as a legitimate audio device.

Unfortunately, I discovered two things: that Windows 10 has driver incompatibility issues with various software like Audacity, and that apparently, and I don't know how I missed this, but driver support for my Fast Track seems to have been discontinued.
